“Limoeiros” is a multi-disciplinary collective founded by three Canadian artists of Brazilian origin based in Montreal: Rommel Ribeiro, Enrico Lima, and Fernando Moreno. Their music uniquely blends Afro-Brazilian rhythms, Jazz, Reggae, and Funk, celebrating diversity and friendship as well as art and contemplation. They compose in 4 languages: Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish.
Rommel Ribeiro is an award-winning singer-songwriter and producer who has received accolades such as “Revelation in World Music” from the CBC/Radio Canada in 2013 and the “Coup de Coeur – MUZ” prize by Vision Diversity in 2019. Enrico Lima is a singer-songwriter and painter with over a decade of experience in artistic projects exploring the connections between music and visual arts. Fernando Moreno (Fer) is a poet-songwriter and arts producer with 20 years of experience leading artistic projects and 3 published books.
“Limoeiros” (Portuguese for “lemon trees”) is a blend of their surnames (Lima, Moreno, and Ribeiro). It also references Gilberto Gil’s song “Refazenda” and symbolizes their appreciation for nature’s strength and beauty.
